In a Press Release on the 8 February 2011 ACOM, the world wide Association for Data Centre Professionals has issued an invite to people interested in being involved in the New Zealand Chapter. The meeting will be sponsored by CENTEROS who has a Data Center Infrastructure Management software package.

AFCOM, the worldwide Association for Data CenterProfessionals, has issued an invitation to local IT professionals to join its New Zealand Chapter.

The first chapter meeting will be held in Auckland on Tuesday February 22nd at the Owen G. Glenn Business School. Robyn Goldstone, AFCOM’s Brisbane-based Asia Pacific Membership Services Manager, will be presenting at the meeting.

Local chapter organiser, Kate Crossley of CENTEROS,says “Until now, New Zealand data center professionals haven’t had a local forum. Our new chapter is a great opportunity to learn, network and exchange ideas with like-minded peers. Also being a part of the AFCOM global family means we get to share experiences with, and learn from, our data center colleagues around the world.”

US-based AFCOM was established in 1980. The Association offers a comprehensive portfolio of resources for data center operators, managers and staff, including educational symposiums, an extensive local chapter program, and in-depth publications and research tools. All facets of data center management are covered - including day-to-day operations and facilities-related issues, the latest technology and management techniques, best practices, disaster recovery, power and cooling, asset management and cloud computing.

AFCOM has more than 4,500 members worldwide. Recently local chapters have been established in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra. In May, AFCOM will be running its first Asia Pacific Symposium in Sydney.
